Book Discussion of Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi
Thurs., July 9 6:00pm
A new kind of book discussion
Local WAMC and SUNY Albany film lecturer Rob Edelman will facilitate a thought provoking discussion of this unique book. Persepolis is a wise, funny, and heartbreaking memoir of growing up in Iran during the Islamic Revolution. In powerful black-and-white comic strip images, Satrapi tells the story of her life in Tehran from ages six to fourteen; she saw the overthrow of the Shah's regime, the triumph of the Islamic Revolution, and the devastating effects of war with Iraq. A great read for adults and teens! This program made possible through funds from the New York State Council for the Arts and the Mohawk Valley Library system.
All are welcome, and refreshments will be served. Free and no registration nessesary. |
